Mark's New Hardware - part 2

He's out of surgery...Dr. Hurt was surprised when he got in there and saw how much damage was really done. He really hit it hard and was shocked to see what happened because he's so young and since his bones are rock hard (he said).  So he has lots of plates and pins holding it together. There will be lots of swelling and pain for the next few days. Poor Marky.

You all are getting this news before he is...still waking up from his anesthesia and we should be able to go home pretty soon. Say some prayers that he heals swiftly!

In the bottom pic you can see how the area around the "ball" now cups it like it's supposed to. It's not pushed back like it was in the 1st set of pics. The doctor also said that Mark's likely going to have arthritis in this hand because of where this happend. :(
Again, prayers that he heals quickly and that his body heals back to normal.

Mark's New Hardware - part 1

One of my boys had a little incident on the soccer field this last weekend. Playing soccer a little too hard. If Graham was a little bit older, you might automatically think of him. But nope, it's my other boy....good ol' Mark fell back oh his wrist on Sunday and broke it in all kinds of pieces. I'm sitting in the waiting room right now while Mark is getting "hardware" pinned into his bones to put them back together. Due to the fabulous capabilities of technology, you can see his x-rays right now.

Left shows how the "ball" in his wrist pushed back the radius bone (the side that his thumb is on)...the part that is pushed back is kind of fuzzy (on the right), and that's because of all of the little pieces that it's in. OUCH. You can see another view of it in the middle pic. And the one on the right shows where he broke off another piece of bone...you can see it on the very right (I think it's the ulna) - the part that is just hangin there off the rest of the big part. OUCH again. And of course this is his right hand that he does everything with! OUCH.

So as I write, Dr. Hurt (yes, that's his name) is putting plates and pins around these bones to put them back into one piece. He will have to wear a cast for 3 weeks and then will have to wear a brace and do some phyical therapy. Not fun times for Marky-man.

Post-surgery pics to follow....

Last week we had lots of ice, snow, and freezing cold..........

Graham: Hmmm, what is this stuff?
Kali: AWESOME!!!!!

Graham: Well, it's cold. And I can't really put it in my mouth.

Desire to Inspire

So many of you may be stuck at home due to the icy and snowy roads that have taken over the U.S., or maybe you're at home with the kids, or maybe you're just bored and happen to be reading our blog. :) Many of you have also come to me for advice for your interiors.Well, good news! I have something for you to do and/or get inspired for your homes!  When I started this blog, I had good intentions to post things about interior design, because I'm so inspired by other bloggers out there who do that. I wish I had more time to dedicate to doing that. (there are select few on the side bar that I do like to read.)

In the meantime, you can check these out. Really fun online magazines that I thought I would share the links to, in case you don't know about them. If you liked Domino, you will love these.
